Karamo’s hat collection plays a fun supporting role to his colorful bomber jacket collection.

Always try to personalize your denim look with a pop of something fabulous.

Five-Minute Make-Better Get Vertical

Obviously, a pair of three-inch heels will literally make anyone taller—and extend your silhouette. But there are more nuanced ways to seemingly add a few inches vertically, which will make you look longer and leaner overall. Here are my go-to stylist tricks that take you to the final stretch:

MAKE IT MONOCHROMATIC Dress head to toe in one hue—preferably a classic neutral like gray or camel—so the eye doesn’t stall at a change of color. (The same rule applies for a bold shade like red or sapphire blue.)

GO AU NATUREL For ladies, a nude shoe, particularly a pump that matches your skin tone, extends your leg line. Pointy shoes do, too. Men, be sure your shoes don’t contrast too much with your pants because it shortens the leg. Think black denim with dark sneakers or boots.

HACK YOUR HEMLINE A skirt that falls just above the knee also makes your legs look longer. Similarly, a maxi-skirt that cinches at your natural waist and grazes the floor makes you look taller.

SUIT UP SMARTLY A shorter jacket exposes more leg and lengthens a man or woman’s silhouette. Also, opt for a two-button jacket with buttons above the waist to have the same effect as above. Narrower lapels elongate the frame, too.

PLAY WITH OPTICS Paneled dresses or shirts with contrasting designs that skim your silhouette deceive the eye into seeing a longer figure.

GET A LEG UP A tapered or slim-cut pant leg is always more flattering than fabric that puddles at the top of your shoes. Avoid cuffs or rolled pant legs that shorten legs, as well.

GO TOP HEAVY Don’t laugh, but a towering topknot actually adds three inches—thank you for the tip, Jonathan. Spiked hair or a pompadour or a high fade like my style raise you up, too.
